  • Ace of Hearts Ranch features beautiful forested trails for horseback riding and hiking on the ranch and beach rides at Canaveral National Seashore. The petting zoo has goats, chickens and pigs. A large pavilion can accommodate up to 200 guests for catered events. An evening bar-b-q with bluegrass band, hayrides and a roaring bonfire is quite popular.   • Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge contains more species of endangered and threatened plants and animals than any other refuge in the continental U.S., including manatees, sea turtles, dolphins, alligators and many species of birds.   • Canaveral National Seashore offers the longest stretch of pristine, undeveloped beach on Florida’s East Coast. Tours by rangers can be arranged for Turtle Mound, historic Eldora Statehouse and Seminole Rest. Seminole Rest is a 4,000 year-old Indian shell mound topped by two pioneer homes. The 60-foot high Turtle Mound was once twice as high. Used as a navigational aid by early Spanish exPaved trails and boardwalks with interpretive signage complement both historic mounds.   • Enchanted Forest Sanctuary contains various ecosystems and climatic forest atop the Atlantic Coastal Ridge with a variety of endangered plants and animals.   • Brevard Zoo is one of the nation’s finest small zoos. Shaded boardwalks wind through themed habitats featuring over 400 animals. Built entirely by volunteers, this zoo is the only one in the world that offers onsite wetlands kayaking. The zoo also has an interactive learning area, playground and a petting zoo.   • Florida Tech Botanical Gardens This 30 acre Florida type botanical garden is a picturesque treat, from sandy uplands of pines and palmettos to a lush hammock of hardwoods including oaks, maples, hickories and one of the largest collections of palm trees in Florida.   • Turkey Creek Sanctuary Classic scrub habitat along an ancient dune ridge descends into lush hydric hammock surrounding Turkey Creek. A 4,000-foot boardwalk winds through the sanctuary for a first-hand look at wildlife and native vegetation. Palm Bay 321-952-3433
  • Blue Spring State Park is the most significant winter warm water refuge for endangered manatees in Florida. As many as 100 manatees may be seen in the crystal clear waters of the spring after a major winter cold front. The 400 acres of restored upland habitat is home to many threatened Florida Scrub Jay families as well as Indigo Snakes and Gopher Tortoises. The Louis Thursby home, which was built on top of a Timucuan Indian shell mound, is typical of a home built by early Florida pioneers. Orange City
